Safe Paying Tips

After the listing closes, paying promptly will help ensure that you get your item as soon as possible. If you have any questions about how to pay your seller, contact the seller directly by email. You can find the seller's email address by looking in the End of Listing email you received when the listing closed. Payment Method Tips  PayPal Send funds directly to a seller from a verified bank account or from a credit card Immediate and convenient. Payment is deposited directly into the seller's PayPal account. No requirement that you use your credit card (you can transfer money directly from your bank account if you have a PayPal account). If you need a free PayPal account, click here. If you pay by credit card, you don't need a PayPal account to pay for an item. Sellers don't see your credit card number (it is safely encrypted through PayPal's server), which limits the risk of unauthorized use. Automatic payment tracking. PayPal offer Buyer Protection. Traceable. Limited liability. Credit card companies typically provide some level of identity and purchase protection. Escrow Payment is held by the escrow service until you receive and approve the item. The buyer can uses a credit card, cashiers check, money order, personal check, or business check to pay the agreed-upon amount into escrow. Escrow is available for any purchase, but typically is used for purchases of $500 or more. An escrow service is a licensed and regulated company that collects, holds, and sends a buyer's money to a seller according to instructions agreed on by both the buyer and seller. Typically, once the buyer receives and approves the item from the seller within an agreed time frame, the escrow service then sends the payment to the seller. There have been reports of fraudulent sellers using nonexistent escrow companies, so do your homework before using any escrow service other than www.escrow.com. Personal or Cashier's Checks Traceable to a particular mailing address. Provides proof of payment. Most banks offer a stop payment service if problems arise before the check is cashed. Note: Sellers must wait for funds to clear. Extremely difficult to recover in cases of fraud. ***Covered up to $200 under the BidOnUSA Standard Purchase Protection Program (minus $25 for processing costs). Money Orders Traceable to a particular mailing address. Provides proof of payment. Some services offer the option to stop payment if problems arise before the payment is cashed, but you don't always have this option. Note: Sellers must wait for funds to clear. Extremely difficult to recover in cases of fraud. ***Covered up to $200 under the BidOnUSA Standard Purchase Protection Program (minus $25 for processing costs). Bank to Bank Wire Transfer Payment is sent directly from one recognized bank account to another account. Immediate and convenient. Payment is deposited directly into the seller's account. Note: Payment is difficult to recover in cases of fraud. Instant Cash Wire Transfer (such as Western Union & MoneyGram) BidOnUSA does not recommend the use of instant cash wire transfer services. While sellers may offer this option, they cannot require you to pay this way. If you suspect a seller is trying to commit fraud by insisting on payment through an instant cash wire transfer, please decline to use it and report the seller to BidOnUSA. Note: Difficult to identify and designate recipient. Not traceable. Generally, no recourse is available if the item is not delivered as promised, even if you used your credit card to send the payment. ***Not covered by the BidOnUSA Standard Purchase Protection Program Cash BidOnUSA does not recommend paying with cash. While sellers may offer this option, they cannot require you to pay this way. If you suspect a seller may be trying to commit fraud by insisting on payment only by cash, please decline to use it and report the seller to BidOnUSA. Note: Not traceable. No way to prove payment was made. No protection against loss or theft in the mail. ***Not covered by the BidOnUSA Standard Purchase Protection Program
